Collaborative Initiatives

Social Strategy Associates brings significant expertise in designing, implementing, and growing collaborative efforts aimed at bringing funders and other key stakeholders together for shared learning and action. By working closely with our clients to understand their vision and needs, our team can usher a group of stakeholders from the early stages of ideation on why a joint effort may be needed to catalyze change all the way to scaling impact and operations. Our team helps co-funders establish their strategic direction, collaborative practices and meeting norms, governance, and operational systems and processes. Once the collaborative evolves to a larger effort and is ready to transition to being a fully staffed organization, the SSA team supports the recruiting, hiring, and onboarding of full-time staff.

Client Story:
Families and
Workers Fund

The Families and Workers Fund is a collaborative philanthropy dedicated to building a more equitable economy that uplifts all. The Fund was originally established as a rapid response vehicle and was the first national, multi-donor effort dedicated to COVID-19’s economic impacts. Supported by a diverse set of contributors—including Open Society Foundations, Morgan Stanley, Schmidt Futures, and MacKenzie Scott—the Fund has already raised over $100 million towards re-envisioning the systems that fuel economic security and opportunity.

SSA was engaged from the very beginning in 2020 to project manage the growing partnership of funders through operational and governance design, strategy, grantmaking, fundraising efforts and field engagement. Since then, SSA continues to support the Fund on a variety of high-impact projects.
