Strategy & Evaluation
In partnership with organizational leadership, SSA develops and executes high-quality research, strategic plans, and MEL (monitoring, learning, and evaluation) processes that engage key stakeholders, accurately capture and demonstrate impact, and make data-driven recommendations for a path forward. Our approach to this work is pragmatic, data-driven, and community-informed in order to generate actionable insights and strategies, rather than theoretical or academic documents removed from the realities of the grantee partners’ work. We have extensive experience working with foundations, nonprofits and corporations in diverse social and environmental issue areas.

Client Story:
Center for Labor & a Just Economy
Early in 2022, Sharon Block transitioned from the United States Department of Labor to lead Harvard’s Labor and Worklife Program. Cognizant of the quickly-shifting labor landscape, Ms. Block engaged SSA to develop a stakeholder survey and engage dozens of donors, labor thought leaders, staff, and more, in a series of interviews to capture and distill valuable feedback on the positioning and unique value proposition of the Program. SSA also led a landscape analysis of peer academic institutions and a communications refresh, including rebranding the Program to the Center for Labor and a Just Economy. This work resulted in a report laying out recommendations for strategic organizational priorities based on work conducted throughout the engagement.
